In
1980 the Center started a full time Theatre Repertory Company,
the aim being to produce meaningful plays by well-known playwrights
and to create an involvement with theatre amongst theatre
lovers.
The moving spirit behind the repertory initiatives was Panna
Bharat Ram’s. She started these with the help of Rajendra
Nath who was the first director of the Center. The Center
at this time pioneered a combination of modern and traditional
puppetry under Dadi Padamji. Under Panna Bharat Ram’s
leadership the puppetry troupe was invited to perform in various
countries like Russia, Bulgaria, Europe & Canada.

The
Repertory has been participating in the Bhartendu
Natya Ustav organized by the Sahitya Kala Parishad,
showcasing the Best of the Year Productions.
Some of the Repertory’s plays, which have recently
been judged among “Best of the year Productions”
are Jis Lahore Nahi Dekha Wo Jamya Hi Nahin
and Mahabrahman.
The repertory participates in the Bharat Rang
Mahotsava, which is an International Theatre
festival organized by the National School of Drama.
It also participates in the Urdu Drama Festival organized
by the Urdu Academy.
Besides performing regularly at the Murli Dhar Shankar
Lal Auditorium, in the Shri Ram Centre, the SRC Repertory
performs at the invitiation of sponsors in Delhi as
well as in other parts of the country .
